Howdee all,
I am interrupting my search for the Marbled Godwit post to exclaim…
We are in Sanibel!
Land of shells and birds.
Jeff and I took a late afternoon beach walk.
It was windy and chilly on the beach.
Bonaparte's Gull
Black skimmer and Sandwich tern
I cant wait to explore more.
Hang out with the birds and shells
Cant get much better than Birds and Shells…
Walking on the beach..
I will be looking for some treasures..
Sicksta Lori said I need to look for Junonia shells.
Here is a link to some other shells I will be looking for.
I need to research where the best shells are and when to find them.
Oh look….
Ibis fishing the surf..
I watched them….wondering what they were eating..
It looks like it has a sand shrimp….
I am sorry if you are bored of Ibis..
Because this is not the last photo..
We had a great walk…we are only a half a mile walk to the beach from where we are staying.
We are also a half mile walk to Ding Darling NWR..
More to explore!
And this is the last Ibis~for today ..
That's pretty rough surf for the gulf. It was as calm as could be when we were there years ago. The ibis are cool birds
ReplyDeleteI am loving your posts from Florida. I really want to be there. Love your ibis photos! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots from a great walk on the beach. I'd be in trouble with all those shells for the taking.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I love Sanibel Island. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. It reminds me I have to get back there one of these days.
ReplyDeletehi dawnie. love the skimmers. they rock.
ReplyDeleteI asked what sort of Ibis they were but did not look hard enough. they are white ibis. we have the ugliest ibis in oz.
cheers,
steve
What a wonderful spot. Super photos and I admit to a bit of jealousy, all that sun and those birds. Enjoy it guys.
ReplyDeleteLooks glorious! I could spend the entire day on that beautiful beach. Hope you find some pretty shells. I know the Sanibel beaches are known for all the gorgeous treasures that wash up on shore.
ReplyDeletethe ibis at Sanibel when I was there were eating sand fleas... and in one of your photos I am pretty sure that the ibis was also eating a sand flea...
