Adele and Craigys Garden and Grounds

Howdy all,

We have left North Carolina and are now in NYC. We will be here for a few days visiting with Samarrah.
I did take the video of Adele and Craig's yard and gardens....It is quite amazing what they have done in the short time they have been living in North Carolina....and considering that the soil is sand.
But with allot of hard work they are making it green and lush.
so check it out.

See some of you soon.

South fork of Cave Creek to Horseshoe Pass Hike, Portal, Arizona

Howdy,
This was another nice day hike. It started at the South Fork Picnic area and started very flat, following a creek for about a mile and a half before we started our climb. The hike was 4.8 miles one way, with an elevation gain of 2,395 feet. This was the easiest of the three hikes we did with Geno...or maybe we were getting back into shape.
I hope Jeff and I can continue to hike as we travel back east. Anyone up for a hike when we get back there?

Below are the pictures from our Portal trip.

Some of the hike was thru a burn area....allot of walking over downed, charcoal trees....My pants were real dirty after this hike with the charcoal and pine sap....

Armchair birding

HOWDY,
This was a nice day of Armchair birding. Cave creek Ranch was our first stop for armchair birding. What a great set up they had nice areas to sit..... many different types of feeders, feed, water features. It was a pleasure to watch the birds by armchair and rest my weary toes from the previous days 9 mile hike.

We then had lunch and walked a bit up south fork looking for birds. After that we stopped by the
Southwest research station . and shopped the book store.
George Walker House was another stop for armchair birding and a nice nap for Jeff.
A fun filled birding day....Easy Arm chair birding.

Silver Peak Hike, Portal, Arizona

Howdy,

We are now in Portal, Arizona. We actually are staying outside of Portal at Rusty's RV Ranch in Rodeo, New Mexico. We are here with Geno and Patti, birding and hiking.

It feels so good to do a challenging hike....and Silver Peak was a great hike to start out with.
Excellent Views...the weather was wonderful....We hiked 9 miles with a little over 3000 feet in elevation gain.

Jeff, Geno and I hiked the peak, while Patti worked on Geno's digital pictures for their website.

You must Read this article on Portal....very amusing.
