Howdee all,
Another beautiful day in Big Bend NP.
We started the morning in Cottonwood campground to find a life bird for us.
The Golden-fronted woodpecker.
We met a camper who showed us a sleeping Great Horned owlThere were many birds around..and we did get our life bird.
Sorry..its only a butt shot..you can see what the bird looks like on this link. After our morning bird walk we drove to the
Morgan, Sublett Trail..
a very short walk…to some old dwellings
Remnants of a stone farmhouse built by James and Melissa Sublett..1913
I enjoyed taking photos of this old structures.. I also took photos of the placards ..explaining what we were looking at..
I had indented to retype this..but..Its late and I am too lazy..)
The farmhouses all have wonderful settings
See those rock cliffs..the Rio Grande River runs below them..The cliffs are in Mexico. Isn't it beautiful? I can imagine living here this time of year..
The next house was my favorite..Set highest on the hill With awesome views..Amazing fireplace.. It must have been wonderful to live here.
Its beautiful .
Maybe a bit too remote for most people..Ocotillo in bud
A great short hike.
A little bit of history in Big Bend.
Love it! Hiking is fun, but hiking and exploring is even funner.
