Howdee all,
Here we are
We have a great campsite…
See the swampy area behind us? Good birding there.
The campground is in the trees beyond the beach..
Monday was our first morning at the campground..
We took an early morning walk..just missing sunrise.
Looking south toward the campground..
We walk north toward the inlet..
I see this silhouette of a bird on the edge of a shallow pool of water.
I thought by the way it was standing it might be a Starling…
Ha, perspective on size was way off..
Green Heron
We are check out the area to see what birds are around.
We saw Dunlin, Semipalmated Plover, Black-bellied Plover..Sanderling and more..
Check out the Bird list below for all the birds we saw this morning.
the tide begins to slowing come in..
Snowy Egret on the edge of a saltwater pool.
A lone Willet feeds
prances around..
looking south..in the distance is our campground..
Our first Marbled Godwit of the year, with a Semipalmated Plover
I kept walking out further and further, Jeff was concerned about the tide.. good thing he was vigilant.. ..
we looked behind us and noticed the tide was coming in rapidly..
I took no photos until we were safely on the other side of the small inlet..
Wet shoes and wet pants.. Next time we will be more careful
Safely on the campground side of the water I look up and notice..
A heart cloud!
We walked south of the campground..
The beach has changed dramatically in the past 6 years since we were here..
We used to bike the beach south past the campground…
now that part of the beach is gone..
We were told within the past two years most of the beach in this area was carried away..
The water took over what was woodland..
To the lighthouse..
Looking for birds..
We have been out for a little over three hours..
Its time for breakfast..
I am starved…
see you later!
