We had snow in Connecticut yesterday….
This is what we woke up to this morning.
Of the lovely white stuff..
Sicksta Dell and I helped Dad shovel and clean the snow off of the cars.
As we were shoveling I noticed an arch of color in the sky..
I called it a Snowbow
I am not sure what it is..
My Aunt said she was told it was a Sun Dog
I did see an arch..can you make it out in the photo below?
The sun was in the middle of the arch..
A sun dog or sundog, scientific name parhelion (plural parhelia) from Greek παρήλιον (parēlion), meaning "beside the sun"; from παρά (para), meaning "beside", and ἥλιος (helios), meaning "sun", also called a mock sun or a phantom sun, is an atmospheric phenomenon that creates bright spots of light in the sky, often on a luminous ring or halo on either side of the sun.
Sundogs may appear as a colored patch of light to the left or right of the sun, 22° distant and at the same distance above the horizon as the sun, and in ice halos. They can be seen anywhere in the world during any season, but they are not always obvious or bright. Sundogs are best seen and are most conspicuous when the sun is low. via Wikipedia
Anyone familiar with a Sun dog? is this what this was?
