Green Cay Wetlands with the Badbirdz

Howdee all,

I cant say enough about Green Cay Nature Center..

Green Cay Nature Center is the county's newest nature center that overlooks 100 acres of constructed wetland and provides educational opportunities about this unique habitat. The wetland features 1.5 miles of elevated boardwalk featuring interpretive signs about the habitat. The Nature Center includes a lecture hall, gift shop, and live animals in an extensive exhibit room that highlights wetland attributes. Come for a visit and find that there's something for everyone at this fantastic new facility!

I love this place! I could spend all day here…Granted its not in the wilds,it is an Oasis in a noisy sprawling developed area in Boynton Beach.

This particular day we met up with Angel and Mariel Abreu of Badbirz-reloaded.

Noel Wamer made us all “radar junkies”. Just because he’s off the official scene, doesn’t mean we can all up and quit cold-turkey. This blog is an attempt to keep the radar images coming, and to engage birders, scientists, and anyone else who is interested, in the study of migration using radar. Beginning in October 2008, Angel and Mariel Abreu joined the Badbirdz team as contributing authors, and as of Spring 2009 have become the primary authors and administrators of the site.  My other site, www.woodcreeper.com, tracks nocturnal migration over New Jersey, and was heavily influenced by Noel’s old website, badbirdz.com. ~David LaPuma

We had a wonderful time with Angel and Mariel, they are great naturalists and birders, who enjoy taking their time to study all things nature. They don’t rush around to see it all, they immerse themselves into what is happening at the moment.

I filled a 4gb card taking photos and videoSo I wont be showing them all here…Instead, I will, feature a few of the critters we saw in their own posts....

John Prince Park, Lake Worth,FL

Howdee all,

We are now in Lake Worth, Florida..

We were lucky enough to get one of our favorite campsites at John Prince Park campground.

I leave my windows open at night so that I can see the sunrise in the morning..

and if it’s a nice one I go out and take a few photos..All of these photos are taken with my Itouch..using the HDR app

and a Video app.The flying bird in the photo below is one of the resident LimpkinJeff takes Ballie out for a strollBallie seems happy here and likes to go out occasionally to munch on the grass..Jeff and I like to walk early in the morning before it warms up..it was 66 when we started walking this am…and its now in the 80sIts a very nice park for being in the middle of a city…West Palm Beach is nearby…A long canal in the park…

The weather continues to be beautiful…warm and sunny. The park is full of retirees escaping the cold. Many Canadians speaking French. I will take a few more pics of the park so you can see its quite a busy RV park…not just a lake and trees:)

Daytona Beach~Gull Fly In

While in Titusville…the five below…

Dawn, Donna,Jeff,Linda and Melanie

Drove to Daytona Beach for the

Gull Fly in!And Fly in they did….hundreds

Of Gulls…Preening after a long day….Lovely acrobatics…The gulls kept flying in…..and birders looked through them to find a prize..

…and I am still looking thru the photos and trying to ID GullsGulls are difficult for me…but I do recognize a few here…If you don’t want to ID the gulls…just enjoy the scenery..It was a beautiful evening…A mist in the distance…and gulls, gulls, gulls…..The setting sun gives them a nice glow…And here is where they will spend the evening…While we go home…..After enjoying them….And the Sunset….

Jeff and I are now at Lake Worth where we will be for the next two weeks. I have family here and we both have friends that we will be visiting..We also have some get togethers planned for first time meet ups with Facebook and Twitter friends
