Christmas with the Simmons clan

Well....we had a nice one and a half week visit to Connecticut. I went to a Kenny Rogers Christmas concert with mom.....and did allot of shopping and preparing for Christmas Day.
Christmas was fun and crazy as usual...it was great to be with the family.
Jeff and I are now in North Carolina. We will spend New Years with some friends in Boone, NC. then head back to Carthage where we will stay for a little longer before we head south to Texas for most of the winter.
Below are some pics and two videos of our crazy Christmas day....these are long and probably will only be of interest to the family...but you are all welcome to watch.

I hope to post some pictures soon of our trip to Steve and Anitas.

World Famous Carthage Christmas Parade

Another fun event.
I don't know about the World Famous part...but that is how they advertise this parade. It seemed much smaller than the last time we saw it. Jeff and Adele both got lots of candy that were thrown from the floats.
It was a chilly night. Unlike the past two nights here. They are having record warm temps here. It was high seventies today, and will be in the seventies the next few days.
The fur boys want to be outside all the time now that it is warm.
So do we. We will enjoy it while we can, we leave on Monday for the cold northeast for Christmas....burrrr.

I love my new pjs

howdy,
Ok...I am not normally a animal print lover....and i wouldn't have chosen these if they weren't sooooo soft....but they are sooooo soft and comfortable that i bought two pair and thinking i should run out and get a third. They are micro fleece. There were different colors and patterns..but this was the only one in brown.
I bought these at Walmart for 12.86 a pair...and are made in china...oh well....
I would wear these all day if I could.

Homey sweet Homey

Howdy all,

I was just hanging around the other day and thought I would take a few updated indoor pictures of our Homey.
You can view the slide show below or click on the link here to see the full size pictures and album in webshots. As you can see I love anything pinks and sagey greens and blues....and roses roses roses...shabby chic..kinda... Luckily Jeff doesn't object to my style.

I left the sofa bed open in the living room...because it seems like whenever i want to sit in it I have one or two fluffy fur balls that want to sit with me....so i need all the room i can get....

The views out the window are what we are seeing of Adele and Craig's yard.
Nice gardens and sculptures.

We love our Homey and it has given us 6 plus years so far of travel, We haven't yet found any need to get a new one..

So here's a big thanks to our Homey for running well and keeping us comfortable for so may years....here hoping it has many more years left in it.

Adele and Craigs Garden and Home...

Howdy all,
Jeff, the fur boys and me are settled in Adele and Craig's driveway where we will be for another month or so. We have been doing some house cleaning....a little shopping....a little gardening....and just hanging out.
The weather has started to cool...no more 70s for a while. It was in the 60s today and it will cool to the 50s later in the week.
I walked around the yard after using the leaf blower for a bit....took these photos....

Happy Holidays to you all......

Thanksgiving In Pinehurst, NC

Howdy,
Jeff and I are in North Carolina visiting my sister and her husband and fur animals....Adele, Jeff and I went out for Thanksgiving lunch at the 1895 Grille at Pinehurst.... Craig was working there and wasn't able to eat with us...but he came over to the table a few times to say hello.

Since we were going to cook a turkey later in the day we decided to order Fillet, and Striped Bass. Everything was very yummy and we left stuffed Turkeys.....

We had a nice walk around Pinehurst and then home again to cook Mr. tom.....
Jeff made a marinade which he then injected into the turkey. 4 hours later the temperature was finally right and the button popped out....it was kinda dry...but still tastes good.

Jeffy and I did a little black Friday shopping today...got a few bargains.

We had the turkey dinner today...yumm....we had mashed turnip, green beans, baked sweet potato, sausage stuffing from new york, and of course turkey and gravy.

Tomorrow we will go to the Open house at the nursery where Adele works.
Lots of Christmas tree lightings, parades and festivals the next few weeks here....I look forward to going to all the festivities.

that was our delicious Thanksgiving lunch......

Left the Big Apple ...heading south

Sams Condo...before.....

Howdy all,

Just left the Big Apple....had a nice time sprucing up Sam's condo. We Painted, added curtains and the bench with basket storage. jeff installed a new lock for the door. Check out the before and after pictures.
As much as I don't care for the smoggy, crazy, pushy, shovey, city...I love some things about it. Great food,yummm...cant find good veggie restaurants like the ones here....and so many to choose from. Samarrah knows the best veggie places. and some great non veggie. Check out a few of the menus of the restaurants we went to. Great to walk out the door and have so many restaurants to choose from.
Mana great veggie food
Noodle Pudding wonderful Italian...few blocks from Sam
Pinkberry very different icecream alternative....healthier and tastey

We are headed south, where the pace of life slows wayyyyyyyyyyy down and people are real friendly, and the weather is nice and warm.

Its amazing how long the fall foliage has clung to the trees this year. We are now traveling just south of New Jersey and the colors are still beautiful.

Steve Saradnik ..Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame

Howdy all,

Sorry it has taken me so long to post this.....but as some of you know the night before Steve was inducted into the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame, his wife Lena had a stroke.

Despite how scary and difficult this must have been for Lena she
insisted Steve and their daughter Tracy attend the ceremony.

Lena is recuperating nicely and we all hope that she will be back doing all the things she loves to do very soon.

Steve Saradnik, Chatham second baseman
The hard-hitting infielder from Providence College played four All-Star seasons for the Chatham A’s from 1964-67, highlighted by the ’65 season when he batted .349 with two homers, 17 RBI, 37 hits and 34 runs scored. He also hit .314 in ’64 and .311 in ’66, when he led the league with 31 runs scored. A native of Natick, Mass., the talented second baseman was instrumental in Chatham’s’ success during the mid-1960’s, including the 1967 season when the A’s captured the CCBL championship. He played in the Seattle Pilots’ farm system.

read the article in the Cape Cod newspaper

ABOUT THE CAPE COD BASEBALL LEAGUE

Beginning its 124th season in 2008, the 10-team Cape League originated in 1885 with individual town teams, was reorganized into the Cape Cod Baseball League in 1923 with teams in Chatham, Falmouth, Hyannis and Osterville and is now the premier collegiate baseball summer league in the country.
A total of 198 former Cape Leaguers currently populate major league rosters, including former Cy Young Award winner Barry Zito (Wareham ’97 & ’98), former MVP Frank Thomas (Orleans ’88), former AL batting champion Nomar Garciaparra (Orleans ’93), ALCS MVP Darin Erstad (Falmouth ’96) and current Boston Red Sox stars Mike Lowell (Chatham ’94) and captain Jason Varitek (Hyannis ’91 & ’93).
Cape League alumni of yesteryear include Baseball Hall of Famer Harold “Pie” Traynor (Falmouth ’19), former New York Yankee greats Red Rolfe (Orleans ’30) and Thurman Munson (Chatham ’67), former Texas Rangers and New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine, Cy Young Award winner Mike Flanagan (Falmouth ’72), Rolaids Fireman-of-the-Year Jeff Reardon (Cotuit ’74-76), long-time major league scout Lennie Merullo (Barnstable ’35) and Major League Manager of the Year Nat “Buck” Showalter (Hyannis ’76).

Traveling again

Howdy all,
We are on the road again....Arrived in Eastham, Cape Cod... staying at Atlantic Oaks Campground.

It was an easy stay at the Smoots with Daniel and Matthew..
Jeff did most all the work...which was quite easy..
He made breakfast and lunch for the boys then drove matthew to school...Daniel drove himself.... Dinner was made by both of us most days. Both boys did homework while Jeff and I cleaned up after dinner... I did laundry and gave matthew foot massages...he loved them..... I stayed in Homey at night and Jeff stayed at the house. We did errands, some nice walks and a little birding during the day.

Margie and Sandy got back yesterday they had a nice vacation but were glad to be home again ... they brought back some nice wine and porchini mushrooms for Jeff and I.

We are now on our way south...via cape cod.... We have a friend who is being inducted into the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame and will be going to the festivites on Saturday.

Had a wonderful bike ride when we arrived today....the campground is located close to the bike trail. We hope to go out and ride again tommorow if the weather is nice.

It feels wonderful to be out traveling again. We will do a quick stop in CT. to say Hi and Bye to the family there...and continue on to NYC to visit with Samarrah.
Then onto North Carolina.
Yippeee...
On the road again....

below is a short video of Matthew dressed up for a Halloween Party.

The Parent Swap

Howdy all,

Booo hooo....First I have to say I am disappointed that not more of you readers out there are putting your photos or video clip on my new guest book.....boo hoo.... I am sure other bloggers understand my sadness......I was hoping to see a whole mess of you up there from all over the bloomin USA.....Booo hooo..where the tissue?

Well...that said...let me go on to other matters.
I am out of quarantine.....I am feeling much better. I stayed in homey till my cold got better...didn't want to get Margie and sandy sick before they went on vacation...
As some of you know Jeff and I are in Mass. at his sisters family's home...parked in their driveway. We are here for 12 days or so while Margie and Sandy go to Italy with friends. Jeff and I are here to take care of our nephews, two teenage boys , 13 and 16. We are calling this
The Parent Swap....

should be interesting.....Jeff and I do things much differently than the Smoots...I told the boys we are having healthy meals...tofu veggies....seaweed

Be afraid...be very afraid....

Truth is...we will probably do allot of takeout....I would rather get meals the boys will eat...than to cook something i am not sure of....beside that I really am not into cooking....when I do make meals its a simple non fuss protein of some sort...with vegetables... easy....simple...and tasty.
So take out will be the what I am leaning toward.

Not sure if I will be staying in Homey or in the house. Jeff will stay in the house overnight. Though, Margie says the fur boys can stay in one of the bedrooms with us...So that's a possibility.

anyway that's the scoop for now...
Stay tuned for the premier of

The Parent Swap

Steven Wright at Foxwoods....

Howdy all,
Jeff and I saw Steven Wright tonight....the comedian...in case you don't know...I didn't know his comedy until tonight. He was fun. Strange dead pan bizarre sense of humor.
some of his quotes

On the other hand, you have different fingers. -- Steven Wright

I was sad because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet.
So I said, "Got any shoes you're not using?" -- Steven Wright

What happens if you get scared half to death twice?

I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.

How long do you keep your pillows?

Howdy all,

been hanging out with the ma ther and the pa ther ...ordered down comforter and pillows today from Macys.....ours has lost many feathers and has a hole...and is many years old. Also order a few down pillows..cause I have been meaning to replace my old flat ones for a while......and saw on TV many months back that you should replace pillows every six months to two years....well i think six months silly........and two years seems silly to me too....but considering mine were over ten years maybe fifteen or twenty....ha...i decided it was time to replace them.....

So I have a question for you......How long do you keep your pillows?????
Do you wait till the drool has them all stained....or till the feathers all fall out?
