Head in the clouds….New Hampshire

Here we are..

In New Hampshire with our daughter, son-in-law and our new Granddaughter.

We came to help out the new family….

I was hoping it would be cooler here than in Massachusetts and it is.

In between helping with Emma and making a few meals..

I sit on the porch and look at this green..

I walk around the yard and look to see what is around..

I have not Identified this critter yet..

Edible berries in the back yard..

I tasted them and they are delicious.

Queen Anne's Lace blooming..

There is a field of vetch in front of the green pond..lots of bees and a few butterflies here…

I have not identified this either..

I will look later..I have been busy being a Grandmother and haven't taken as much time to post here on my blog or Identify the bugs I am seeing…so any help is appreciated.

Celebrating Births..

I hope you all had a happy Fourth of July..

  The Birth of a Nation

Jeff took these photos on the 4th as we took our morning walk.

Lexington, Ma.

The streets were pretty empty..

OH..

speaking about births..

We are so very happy to announce the birth of our Granddaughter

Emma 

She is adorable and we are in Love!

Our daughter is very private and does not want photos of her baby on facebook or the internet… Considering the crazies out there I can understand.

So…

I will show you this one..

and unless I get permission this one is all you will see.

Here is the happy Grandmother and Emma.

My Sickstas and many of my friends have seen the photos privately of Emma with the same pink flower below and also a photo of Emma's Dad with the pink flower.

They all think she looks like my hubby.

So, if I cant put up photos of Emma..

Red-necked Stint~afternoon location

More Red-necked Stint fun..

The Red-necked Stint from my previous post (Chasing a rare bird~Red-necked Stint)was re-located.

We were all at the blue location~ where the bird was seen from early morning until around 12pm when we lost the bird.

The bird was located at the red location sometime after 1pm.

So here we all are ~happy again and making the short trek to the bird.

The Paparazzi

Here is the Red-necked Stint..it was hanging around here with two Semi-palmated Sandpipers.

We all had super looks and most settled in..took gazillions of photos and chatted.

We  watched as the bird came closer..

A photographers dream..

I am sure with the lenses that were present..there will be some awesome photos circulating..

It was a terrific day for me!

A life bird, a gorgeous day and no Doxy sunburn!

Upon returning home..I was asked by John Puschock if he could use my Birders looking at Stint photo for the ABA blog.

Of course I said yes..click on the photo to read the Stint Story and see my photo.

The Stint was not seen in MA on Saturday.

On Sunday a Red-necked Stint was found on Long Island…upon comparison of photos..It is believed to be the same Stint.

While perusing Facebook on Thursday I came across this on the

ABA Rare Bird Alert page. 

Wow!

This bird was so close to where we are parked. Just a short drive from Lexington.

Would it still be around on Friday?

I wanted to get out after having been indoors on Doxy for a month. What a perfect outing.

Birds and Birders…cant get much better than that.

We knew there would be plenty of birders wanting to see this rare bird.

Friday morning I watched the ABA Alert page until I saw that the bird was being seen a short walk from parking area 7'.

The morning birders got soaked in the rain while watching the stint..luckily the rain had stopped and it was just overcast.

We hopped in the car and booked it to Plum Island.

The Parking lot was full.

A birder on his way back to his car said the bird was being seen.

We rushed to the area…A birder with a scope let me look at the bird.

Wow..that was easy.

Life Bird Dance!

We then set up our scope and watched the bird for a little over an hour.

At first it was too far for my tiny point and shoot camera..

Then it came a bit closer…

It was chased by a Killdeer and eventually finally flew off.

We thought we re-located the bird..but it was so very far away we couldn’t tell if we were looking at a Sanderling or the Stint.

A few birders took off to look in other areas..

What do I do?

I wander around taking a few photos..

I was so very happy to be outdoors..

The sun didn’t seem to bother my skin..

A seaweed ball..

I have found these on Sandy Point before..

This one is green..

the ones I found last year were brown..

The sun starts to come out..

A Birder has news that the Stint has been re-located at Sandy Point beach..

just a short walk from where we are..

We rush to see the bird again..
