Interesting blog. Found it trying to get some information on a Swarovski spotting scope, one of those collapsible models that you don't see much in the US.
Anyway..........my back living room is a birder's paradise! Also, deer and small mammals. Somehow I think that if I don't provide for the critters they'll starve and I'm rewarded with having them come around, build nests, etc. An escaped emu was the strangest bird ever to appear in the backyard except for the gnawed-on, partially thawed turkey that showed up one Thanksgiving morning. A coyote must have snatched it from a neighbor's back porch and then split when it saw me. Oh well........no Thanksgiving turkey for some poor family! I live in the Sierra foothills, 3000' elevation, about an hour from Tahoe so I have quite the mix of wildlife.

Wow! Bluff Point State Park; this is "our place." Lin and I "discovered" it in 1974. Back then the area nearest the entrance was the town beach. It certainly has changed in the last almost 40 years.....

so many ? to ask . we just bought our first RV for now we only have time for short trips still workining how did you retire so early? we are birders and for the last ten years we have been in hotels , we hope to become full timers within 5 years , what does it take to live the life of travel?

ReplyDeleteI did not recall in 1991 a parking area atop Mt Washington Just a flat grass field with a seat and Bear-proof waste bin???
