They dont make them like this anymore

Howdee all,
This is my sisters husband Craigys truck. He is in the process of fixing it up. I am amazed at all the metal...no plastic parts.
Maybe we should all by old used cars and fix them up... I was reading somewhere that if you add everything up..cost..environmental impact, etc. It is better to buy used then to buy a new Hybrid car.
Something to think about.

Another award..Thanks!

Holiday Greenery Decorations

Howdee all,

So today I decided we needed a little Holiday cheer around the Homey and next door at my sisters. So I walked around a clipped some Rosemary, Pine, Holly, pine cones and a few hickory nuts to make some decorations.
I started out by making the wreath below...I had to use some of the thousands of hickory nuts around here so I hot glued a few on.

I added a few Holly sprigs and some Rosemary to the front Urns.
Note the small Hickory nut wreaths around the Urn top...I have to find more uses for these darn things that are every where here.

Then I went inside my sisters home and made a few arrangements there.

The I went to my Homey and added a little greenery here

and here

and there.

So now I feel festive and the Homey smells wonderful with the Rosemary.
And the best thing about it...Totally free and fun

Gotta read this Post by OC Warbler

Just click on the above title.... A great story for birders and all.

Holiday Seasons Greetings, Do You Decorate?

Howdee all,

Happy Holiday season...
I really enjoy the beautiful decorations of the season. Today we went to Southern Pines for the
Christmas Parade. We had a grand time. Lots of good bands, floats and the normal parade type stuff. We strolled around after the parade looking at the decorations. I took these pictures at one of my favorite shops called A Wild Hare.
They always do a bang up job with decor.

look at the store front windows....

and their cool cabbagey , carroty, tree any bunny would love.

When I was a little girl my sisters and I saved the money we made from delivering newspapers to buy decorations after Christmas when they went on sale. I still have some of the decorations. I think they are antiques now..tee hee..

When I had my last fixed foundation I would spend a few days decorating. My husband and our daughter are Jewish so they were not as in to the decorating scene as I was. But they enjoyed how festive everything looked. I still have a picture our daughter made of the festive Holiday season ..with the fireplace glowing.

Maybe in a future post I will show a few photos of our last home decorated for Christmas.

When we first started motorhoming I boxed up some of my favorite decorations.
I decorated for a few years. Lately we have been spending November at my sisters in North Carolina and then we make the drive in our car back to CT to spend Christmas with mom, dad and the rest of the family.

So.. i haven't decorated that much the past few years. Last year I decided that lugging around a big box of decorations that I only used once a year...sometimes not at all, was not practical. We could use the storage for other things. So now I will rely on nature and a few rope lights I still have. I will bring in some Holly with berries and some nice smelling herbs and pine greens that I pick from my sisters garden.
Do You Decorate?

How do you decorate for the Holiday?
Do you use allot of decorative lighting? Read this post at the Huffington.
Should we all be conserving? Homeowners, shop owners, business?

That's all for now...
Whatever Holiday you Celebrate..
I hope its a merry, peaceful and filled with love.

Happy Holidays

My blog on CNN...what?? yes CNN europe

Howdee all,

Yep thats right....how the heck did that happen?
I use feedjit to see how people are getting to my blog. I was very curious when the past few days I have seen people coming from CNN. So I began my sleuth investigation. I clicked on the CNN link they were coming from.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/11/21/sbm.interactive.map/index.html

Yikes...that's a pretty awful page to be coming from. The worlds killing fields...which I do suggest you read. It is sad that this is happening as we speak, blog etc.

I couldnt find my blog so I forgot about it...until a few more people got to my blog via CNN.
Then I looked a little more..
Under the Genocide map...

I clicked on From the blogs...
waited for it to load up and
there I was...

WHY?
Yesterday I was first blog in line...this time I am second...
maybe in a day or two I wont be there anymore.

How the heck did i get here???
Any Ideas?

Hey chicky...are you able to get a print screen of the whole page? I cant on my little lappy...wont all fit in...

Some birding and Weymouth Woods

My stuffed kitties..in the front window. The one on the left I bought after my Nobbie passed away..I put his collar on the kittie..and it reminds me of his sweetness. The black ball looks so much like my Ballie cat....My sister Lori found him on Etsy...and I fell in love...I wanted him badly....i went to buy him and he was sold...but luckily my sneeky sister Adele bought him out from under me...and then gave the cute little critter to me....I am so lucky....tee hee

Howdee all,

Today we didnt get out until the afternoon. I did a little digascoping from the Motorhome. I dont think going through glass is a great idea for clarity and focusing but I did take a video of a Carolina Wren and Jeff took the Bluebird picture above.

We decided to go to Weymouth Woods since we havent been yet ..on this visit to the area.
We started birding at the parking lot and saw the Red cockaded woodpecker

We had a nice walk.....saw a few birdies...the woods were full of robins.
I took a few pictures of bark...because I love bark...and these were very cool..
and the moss was so green against the brown leaves....as for the shroom...well isnt it gorgeous!

okey doke...thats all for now...

I won an award...Yipeeee

Howdee all,
Yes its true, I won an award and here it is.Thank you, thank you..I would like to thank all of my friends and family and tee hee.
Ok,well i would like to thank Appalachian Lady who gave me this award.

I have recently been saving blogs that I like and putting them onto a blogroll on the sidebar. I added Appalachian Journal because I found it to be very interesting blog about nature, birds, bugs, plants etc. and I am always picking up some interesting tidbit and learning from this blog.
So thanks Appalachian Lady for the award and more importantly for your informative blog.

My blog was started a few years back as Jeff and I were into our fulltiming RV adventure.
I wanted a way for my family and friends to know what we were doing. .I used to send an email travelogue but then I discovered blogging. What a great tool to show video, pictures and words to document our travels. I know my mother, mother in law and sisters like to read the blog to see what we are up too.

Recently I started added a blogroll and found this a great way to keep up with some very interesting blogs. I also did two Skywatch Fridays If you have never checked out Skywatch you should. Anyway, because of both of these things I have had people other than family, friends read my blog.

My blog is nothing fancy,,,some pics taken with love, but not with allot of photographic knowledge. I use a point and shoot camera, my video is as excitable as me when I take it...therefore the quick pans..and shakes.......tee hee..
No mind bending, poetry or prose....and allot of dots.....................and if it weren't for spell check allot of misspellings. I tend to be Sarah Palinish and ramble on sometimes, making no sense.......there go the dots again.

But this is my photo, video journal. I hope you enjoy.

I love having worshipers...oops I mean followers. So if you like or enjoy my blog I do appreciate it, whether you comment or not....that's right chickylet..(but you being my mother are required to comment)that goes for the sisters too....

PS..one more word about the pretty award...love the graphic..but does the wording sound strange to you?

So now it is my turn to pass on the award...to a few other worthy candidates..

These are the rules I am following and the rules that I pass on to you all.
Though I know a few of you personally and know that you probably wont pass it on..that is ok...It is like a chain letter, you wont die, blah blah blah if you don't do it..

1. Put the logo on your blog, you can right-click and copy it from above.
2. Add a link to the person who awarded you
3. Nominate other blogs for this award (about 10).
4. Add links to those blogs
5. Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs (have to do this yet!:)
6. Give a reason why you consider their blogs cool.

First of all I love all the blogs that I have in my sidebar blogroll and should give them all awards....I learn from each and every one of them. I have to say that Appalachian Lady already awarded some of my favorites. But since I had to choose a few I did.

Here are my award winners in no particular order

Bloggedy blog blog this blog belongs to my sister Adele, she and her husband moved from the big city of Pittsburgh to north Carolina a few years back. they wanted out of the city and fast pace high powered jobs..and are now enjoying doing what they like in a beautiful country setting. My sisters passion is gardening. Her husband loves to build things. If Adele were to blog more you would see daily pictures of her flowers, probably more of Craig's projects and more goofy, posts that crack me up.. The past two days she has been getting into the blogging thing again. So I am giving this award for her past blogs and all that I hope to see in the future.

Live your Life This blog belongs to anther sister..who is also a passionate gardener and Apple computer wizard. She and her husband live in a beautiful cottage by the sea...her husband can make anything he puts his mind to...you should check out the blog to see his handiwork. I love all of her photos and videos, she has a much nicer camera than I. tee hee. I would love to see her blog more....and do a sky watch or two.

The blog of a butterfly and garden freak This blog belongs to my nephews wife, Missy. Another avid gardener. On her blog you will see anything from recipes, music videos, trivia, lyrics of songs, pictures of stars with babies..humm I think she wants one too... and lots and lots of stuff about animals..she loves them all and is very passionate about everything she puts on her blog.

Ameila Payson House blog This blog I helped get its feet off the ground, and Ada May had hit the ground running. Ada and her husband Don have a wonderful bed and breakfast in Salem, Ma.
They also have a condo/winter residence in Tucson,AZ. On Ada's blog you will see both Salem and Tucson and some of their travels, not to mention her great love Alan Jackson.

Geno's Blog this blog belongs to Java Geno, a friend and a recent do it yourself blogger. Geno lost his wife of 40 years this spring. It was Patti the computer genius and website designer who set up their beautifully designed blog/travelogue in the past..Geno would take the pictures and give Patti the input and she would put it all together. Now Geno does it all himself..and though it may not be as beautifully designed as Patti's,,,,I enjoy everything he puts on it. Geno is an avid biker, hiker, photographer, coffee junkie and wino..tee hee... Check out his recent bike trip to Japan...very very cool...

The Zen birdfeeder I love this blog..I love the birdie pics. I love that she just did a whole blog on how to make bird treats to hang from trees. The blog is written by Nancy Castillo who is co-owner of Wild Birds Unlimited - Saratoga Springs NY. Thanks Nancy
