Evening in the San Rafael Grasslands

Howdy,
Haven't blogged for a while, and its not because we haven't been doing anything....most days we go birding somewhere around the Patagonia area. Either a drive to look at birds or a walk to see them.
We are still traveling with Dick and Judi May, and recently Patti and Geno Masuda joined us here. It was Patti and Geno who originally introduced us to this area.

It is a wonderful area, lots of birding here, and never enough time to see it all. We have discovered a few new areas on this trip...but i am sure there are plenty others waiting to be discovered....oh well...next time.

We leave here on Tuesday after our mail arrives.

I have taken lots of other video...but for whatever reason....I have not added it to the blog....maybe sometime later or maybe never....

I do have this one video that was taken last night in the San Rafael Grasslands.....we went for the sunset with Geno and Patti....

and below that are the pictures we have taken from some of our adventures in the area.....

Lunch in Nogales Mexico

Howdy all,

Haven't taken too much video lately.....but we have been having fun birding and touring the area with our friends Dick and Judy and another friend who is visiting from Oregon.
Above are a few birds we have spotted in the area. The first bird the Rose throated Becard is a rarity not expected until later in the season. I was lucky enough to spot the bird near an rv at the start of one of our guided birding hikes.... I was very surprised to see it and everyone else was too.. everyone was very excited and I got a round of applause for finding it.
Later in the day I found a rare Western Wood Owl....I was convinced I was seeing a real owl...and had others convinced for a while too... I should go back and take a picture of it....it really did look real.

Below is a video of a short trip into Nogales, Mexico for lunch. Tons of pharmacies there for getting cheap prescriptions...allot of Americans go there to get cheaper prices....also many Dental offices.
I am tired of Mexican food....actually I never really loved Mexican food...but i have had enough.
I still love Tamales and fish tacos..but i could do without the rest.

Day in Tubac

Howdy all,

We are now in Patagonia, Arizona. Moved here from Tucson this afternoon. Nice to be back.

We were in the hummingbird aviary at the Sonoran Desert Museum. This little hummingbird hovered around me for over a minute...touching my hair...chin ...earings...shirt...what fun....

Enjoying Tucson area

Howdy all.

We have been in Tucson for a few weeks now...Having a great time in the Desert.
Dick and Judy are here with us at Catalina State Park, we have been busy birding and seeing the sites. Below I have two videos. One is the Arizona Desert Museum
We had a wonderful day there. Check out the Black-bellied whistling-duck.

The next video is a hike we did in Sabino Canyon.

It was about a six mile hike, to some Seven Falls. We did this hike a few years ago, and enjoyed it again.

Nobbie continues to do ok.... he eats and drinks and goes outside as normal. He is on High blood pressure medicine. We are so happy he is still with us.

The Culprit ..caught in the act

Leave a Salmon Salad unattended......this is what happens.....( see sprout evidence on Ballies right cheek, a sprout from the salad)....Jeff ate the salad anyway....

We are now at Catalina state park north of Tucson, Arizona. This is our third time staying at this park. We enjoy hiking and birding here...and just plan hanging out in our yard....here...and watching the birds at our feeders.
The video below I took for our friends Patti and Geno, they wanted to see the new section of the park....Check it out if you want to see what the Campground looks like.
There is also a short video of where I go to get wifi to upload the videos....and a little cafe ( French twist cafe) where we had lunch....sorry I forgot to take pictures of the lunch...but there are plenty of pastries to look at.
... ...This area is changing, the town of Tucson is spreading and coming out this way..New homes all around,,,,lots of new stores just down the road from the park......Rumor has it that there will be a new Walmart across the street from the Campground.

We shop at Trader Joe's here, I have been enjoying the Trader Joe's brand of lemon yogurt, and their no sugar grapefruit soda from Italy. yummmm. We also stop at Wild Oats health food stores....They have free samplings everyday. Near Wild Oats is a new Asian diner called Pei Wei, the prices look good so we will check that out soon. Here is a review of the restaurant.

Day of the Condors and Elephant Seals..............

l
Howdy,
This Video is of the Elephant seals we saw a few days ago....I didn't get any footage of the Condors...because they were high in the sky....With our Binoculars we got a good glimpse of 6 condor. We were lucky to see so many. They had recently put out some food (dead rabbits) to feed them....they were concerned about a young female who wasn't eating.
The Elephant seals were a real treat to see...very noisy....very cool. It was birthing season.

Dick took this picture of this sweet western bluebird with my camera using his scope..nice
