We are now in Patagonia, Arizona. Moved here from Tucson this afternoon. Nice to be back.
We were in the hummingbird aviary at the Sonoran Desert Museum. This little hummingbird hovered around me for over a minute...touching my hair...chin ...earings...shirt...what fun....
We have been in Tucson for a few weeks now...Having a great time in the Desert.
Dick and Judy are here with us at Catalina State Park, we have been busy birding and seeing the sites. Below I have two videos. One is the Arizona Desert Museum We had a wonderful day there. Check out the Black-bellied whistling-duck.
It was about a six mile hike, to some Seven Falls. We did this hike a few years ago, and enjoyed it again.
Nobbie continues to do ok.... he eats and drinks and goes outside as normal. He is on High blood pressure medicine. We are so happy he is still with us.
Leave a Salmon Salad unattended......this is what happens.....( see sprout evidence on Ballies right cheek, a sprout from the salad)....Jeff ate the salad anyway....
We are now at Catalina state park north of Tucson, Arizona. This is our third time staying at this park. We enjoy hiking and birding here...and just plan hanging out in our yard....here...and watching the birds at our feeders. The video below I took for our friends Patti and Geno, they wanted to see the new section of the park....Check it out if you want to see what the Campground looks like. There is also a short video of where I go to get wifi to upload the videos....and a little cafe ( French twist cafe) where we had lunch....sorry I forgot to take pictures of the lunch...but there are plenty of pastries to look at. ... ...This area is changing, the town of Tucson is spreading and coming out this way..New homes all around,,,,lots of new stores just down the road from the park......Rumor has it that there will be a new Walmartacross the street from the Campground.
We shop at Trader Joe's here, I have been enjoying the Trader Joe's brand of lemon yogurt, and their no sugar grapefruit soda from Italy. yummmm. We also stop at Wild Oats health food stores....They have free samplings everyday. Near Wild Oats is a new Asian diner called Pei Wei, the prices look good so we will check that out soon. Here is a review of the restaurant.
Howdy, This is what I have been making lately. Got the idea from Patti, who made a lovely one for Jeff. So here are my first five attempts. I still have more beach stones so i will make them until I run out. So, which one do you want?
check out the video below....more rock pictures and a roadrunner at our feeders.

Howdy, This Video is of the Elephant seals we saw a few days ago....I didn't get any footage of the Condors...because they were high in the sky....With our Binoculars we got a good glimpse of 6 condor. We were lucky to see so many. They had recently put out some food (dead rabbits) to feed them....they were concerned about a young female who wasn't eating. The Elephant seals were a real treat to see...very noisy....very cool. It was birthing season.
Dick took this picture of this sweet western bluebird with my camera using his scope..nice
Two great days, two different activities with the end result being Good Food.... Yesterday Geno, Jeff and I rode and birded toNoi'sThai restaurant. Met the rest of the gang there. Went to a local farmers market and then to CopadeOrocoffee shop.
Today we rented a few outriggers , from Orchid Outriggers and went with Marc, our guide, on a tour of the bay...to look at birds. Then off to Bayside Cafe for lunch. Two nice days...Good Food
below i am using two different ways for you to get to my webshots photos..the one thumbnail takes you directly to the webshots photo album....the other is a slide show.....let me know which you like better....I can always use them both.
We continue to enjoy this area. The above picture is Jeff, Dick and Judy doing some birding.
Weather is getting warmer here. So today was a great day for a hike up to Valencia Peak. We went with our Friends, fellow birders and our private tour guides of the area... Patti and Geno and their friends Jay and Harvey and also our Birding and traveling Friends, Dick and Judi. We will be traveling with Dick and Judi into Arizona starting the beginning of Feb. looking for more birds....
We had a nice hike up to the peak. Saw a few hawks, kestrels and 2 coyotes, and of course great views.
bye for now......I hope to see a few family blogs...videos...etc....so get going....
Howdy, This is what we did yesterday....A nice morning walk. I walked with Mr. Curlew. Later in the day we went to see where the Monarch butterflies are Hanging out...then onto a birding walk and beach again. Nice Day.
The Video below was a tour of Halter Ranch Winery and Birdwatching at the winery. I went on this tour with Geno and Patti, Jeff was off with Dick and Judy and another tour on Estero bluffs. It was a very very cold morning for us all. It eventually warmed up nicely and the wine was a great finish to our tour.
The birdfest ended on Monday....We are now hanging out...doing some birding...touring areas nearby. This is truely a wonderful area, I am sure Jeff and I will want to come back in the future...Hopefully to warmer weather.
