We had a Beautiful sunny day for this hike....thank goodness.
I couldnt imagine doing this hike in rain.
It didnt seem so scary to me on the way up to the mines, but the way back we were going down and It was scarey in areas.
YIKES

We found some cool gold rocks...we are now real rich.

Drive from Silverton to Ouray on the million dollar highway

We are now in Ouray staying at Timber Ridge RV park.

Click here to see where we are on a map.

The drive over the mountain pass on the Million dollar Highway was a bit hair raising.....
I had to help Jeff several times by telling him when to brake and when to slow down. ha....

It is much warmer here than Silverton...but it is also about 2000 feet lower in elevation too.

Ice Lake, Island Lake Hike

This was a beautiful hike, and challenging
We had a 2,000 foot elevation gain...PUFF PUFF
We got an early start to avoid the afternoon rain/thunderstorms that seem to happen here every afternoon.
It was cold..and I am ready to get back in some warmer weather for sure.

But, the snow on the mountain tops was a nice sight to see.

Or check out the last video on this blog for a photo slideshow of the hike....If i have more than ten minutes of video...which i have been doing lately, I cant put xtra pictures at the end of my videos because of
upload limitations on u tube...so i made a separate video slideshow for the pictures....

Music in the last video from Steve Earles Train a Comin' cd.

Alpine Loop Drive to Lake City

This was an interesting day...

Drove the alpine Loop road past many ghost towns and mines. Drove the rocky road to a cute summer resort town called Lake City, where we had coffee and bought some bbq for the drive back thru Engineer pass.
But the drive back was not what we expected...

It seems to work in both Foxfire and Explorer.

Now in Bayfield

Howdy,
we moved camp and are now at Blue Spruce RV park
North of Vallecito Lake bordering the mountains. The RV parks new owners say they will be fixing up the park and putting in new sites for big Homeys like ours. We have free satellite TV here, our satellite gets no reception because of the trees, and free wifi.

this is the lake we are near

I am playing with google earth for adding a map...
so far I don't like the way it looks
but if you click on the map below you can see where we are.

I am also playing with the new beta version of blogger . i want my posts to look the same in explorer and FireFox....so far with the new posts everything looks good in explorer but the older ones are a little cockeyed...but if you press the back page and go to the page you are looking for it seems to work better then scrolling way down on the page you are on.... my new posts should work fine....its just the old ones that are cockeyed...

FireFox seems to have no bugs...

if there are any probs with any browser please comment...thanks
