When we arrived at Sickstas the beginning of April.
The Chickadees were checking out the housing.
They finally settled on the Moon.
its been a popular nesting location in the past.
I repaired it with Duct tape last year after it fell and broke.
I didn’t think they would like it..
They did..

When we first arrived there were tons of American Goldfinch and Pine Siskins.
I was filling up the finch feeders almost every day.
We were waiting for the migrants..
The birds that come for the summer and stay…
and those that just pass through on their journey north.
The first feeder migrant and a local for the summer was the Indigo Bunting.
We didn’t get as many as in the past.
This year I counted four males and one female at the feeders.
In the past we have had at least six males and four females.
The second migrant and local summer bird was the Blue Grosbeak.
One male…and one immature male.
and two by two..
The Rose-breasted Piglets arrived…
I mean Grosbeaks.
I had to keep adding and rearranging the feeder set up to accommodate six males and four females..
They didn’t like sharing the feeders..
They liked the peanut butter suet I made.
It was fun and colorful when all three birds were around..

As more grosbeaks arrived I put up more feeding platforms.
The Pine siskin and Goldfinch left bit by bit along with most of the White-throated
sparrows. I was putting out less and less finch food.

Before all the Rose-breasteds packed up overnight a day ago…
and left….without even a goodbye..

The last few days have been slow at the feeders with the Rose-breasteds gone…
I took down the extra feeding platforms.
There are still plenty of Black and White Warblers around.
The Scarlet Tanager has been wooing a female and will probably set up house soon.
I will miss all of that action..
As we have packed it up ourselves and heading north….
