Howdee all,

Remember the day It was so foggy on Lake Phelps that

I went Jewel hunting instead?

Before we arrived at the lake..we saw hundreds of snow geese in a farmers field.

It was foggy..

I went jewel hunting and since we couldn’t bird the lake we went on a bird hike through the park.

I think this is a Sycamore tree..

You could see right thru it!

Pocosin Lakes, Lake Phelps_007Upside down heart and funky roots~

Pocosin Lakes, Lake Phelps_042Another tree hollowed out..

it’s a wonder these trees are still standing!

Pocosin Lakes, Lake Phelps_045Our main mission to the park today was to scope out the campground to see if our Homey would fit. This is a much better location for birding the Pocosin Lakes NWR and surrounding area.

You can see below that the campground is not full..

( we are now here)

Somerset Place, a North Carolina state historic site that includes a restored 1830s plantation home and outbuildings that can be toured, including reconstructed slave quarters.
